West Vancouver maintains a very high quality of life, evidenced by it's many waterfront parks and developed walkways. Residents here know a good thing when they see it in a recent survey, 98.7 per cent of them indicated they would not choose to live anywhere else.
AMBLESIDE VILLAGE
Ambleside Village is one of West Vancouver's oldest neighbourhoods and was originally created as a seaside retreat for city dwellers across the inlet. Today, the lively area is the business and social heart of West Vancouver. Take a stroll from the Capilano River through Park Royal Shopping Centre to Ambleside Park and enjoy the unparalled harbour views from the Seawalk.
At the foot of 17th Street is John Lawson Park which features a pier, summer pool for children and playground. Heritage buildings, cobble stoned walks and old fashioned lamps have preserved the shopping areas original summer cottage feeling. In addition, Bellevue Avenue features a cosmopolitan flavour of fashionable shops, first class restaurants and trendy cafes. DUNDARAVE VILLAGE
Colourful planters and iron cast lamps decorated with hanging flower baskets mark this picturesque seaside neighbourhood. From its early days as a logging camp, Dundarave Village has grown into a charming block of distinctive boutiques and relaxing sidewalk or ocean view cafes. Take in the spectacular view of Burrard Inlet from Dundarave Pier, a ferry dock prior to the opening of the Lion's Gate Bridge in 1936. CAULFEILD VILLAGE In 1898, Francis William Caulfeild landed at Skunk Cove (now Caulfield Cove) and created a community still known for its lush forest setting and Old English spirit. Take a short drive west along the shoreline, past St Francis in the Wood, a delightful church, to Lighthouse Park, a stunning nature retreat for hikers and picnickers. After a day at the seaside, head up the winding hillside, across Marine Drive to Caulfeild Village Shopping Centre. Shoppers from all over the North Shore visit this exclusive center when they're looking for something extraordinary. HORSESHOE BAY
Horseshoe Bay is a charming village in a picturesque setting of glistening waters and snow-capped mountains. Stroll along the waterfront park, browse through the quaint seaside shops, art galleries and antique store. Horseshoe Bay is the departure point for ferries to Bowen Island, Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.
It is a great place to book a fishing charter, find fish and chips or visit the many restaurants which offer ocean views perfect for watching the coming and goings of the ferry boats.
